This cap allows you to connect a Ball lock connector connected to a CO2 regulator. This means you can inject only the amount of CO2 you want to inject.
You will need a regulator and a ball lock valve as detailed below and shown in the pictures.
The 2" cap fits on standard 2" cap barrels and kegs and is a direct replacement for caps with the Hambleton Bard Valve or Pin Valve.
With a standard pin valve, you inject the whole 8g CO2 cartridge, which means you can waste a lot of gas. With a regulator, you can control how much gas you inject and even keep a constant pressure in the barrel.
Hambleton Bard S30 / Brewgas L30 cylinders are now difficult to get hold of, and if you find a shop selling them, you need to return your old cylinder and then pay for postage for the new one. This means this is now very expensive form of CO2 for homebrew.
If you have a regulator, do not exceed 12psi on the co2 pressure injection.
The PRV is set at 14psi.
The CO2 regulator & ball lock and 16g CO2 gas cartridges are available to but at Brewbitz by following these links.
The mini CO2 regulator with connector on the barrel in the images are for illustrative purposes only and are not included with the cap and are sold separately - CO2 regulator & ball lock
